Guys with Guns

Now I'm not a support of the NRA, but I am from the south and in the south you own guns, you know how to take care of and clean a gun, you know the power of a gun and that you have to respect that and take things serious, and sadly, you probably also know someone that's been in a gun related accident. I'm all for guns that are used to protect yourself and your family, and to hunt with. The guns that are designed and meant specifically to kill people, those are the guns that need to be regulated is some manner. As far as I'm concerned if  someone wants an assault rifle, join the National Guard, because that is what the Constitution reads.

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Don't just read half the sentence and think it's your god given right to own an assault weapon, read the entire sentence, and join the Guard.

If someone reading this is just totally against guns in any form, well, I'm not sure what to tell you, they're not going away, and I'm worried that commonsense is lacking in some gun owners. Guns are never going to be banned, nor do I think they should be, but the NRA does a dis-service when it supports the extreme gun owner's rights, and doesn't think that there is any relationship between gun ownership and a well regulated militia, when they are used in the same sentence in the Constitution.
